Generative AI, for better or worse, has swept through society in the last few years and appears to be here to stay. By its very nature, generative AI cannot create; it is not a tool for creation. It is a tool for regurgitation. It recycles what has come before and resynthesises information, art, thought - that was created by humans - into something representing unqiueness. But it isn’t unique. It isn’t new. It benefits from the decades and centuries of hard work and determination that constitute human creative output. It’s a parlour trick. 

The process of creation for humans is complex, sometimes difficult, sometimes joyful, and it's one of the things our species does best. It isn't trivial. It requires a lifetime of noticing, paying attention, feeling, learning, trying and failing. We aren't machines crudely combining information in a straightforward and predictable way - every part of our lives has influence on our creative output. We're humans making human things.

Oram Sound Ltd is committed to making human things, and as such, generative AI is not used in any part of our process, and it never will be.
